Whether you are visiting Charleville for one or several days, there are many tempting options to fascinate, educate and intrigue you!! Here are some thought-starters:

HOW TO EXPLORE CHARLEVILLE:
TUESDAY & THURSDAY
9.30 AM: Depart for Myendetta Homestead Tour, Myendetta is only 30klms west of Charleville on a sealed Red
10.00am: Myendetta Homestead Tour.
Myendetta is something straight out of the pages of history. First built in 1908 Myendetta still remains in the same family. Discover the historically and architecturally significant homestead while learning how the occupant’s lifestyles have changed over the years. Tour includes a High Tea, with an option to extend your stay for lunch.
12.30pm: Lunch – Option for Myendetta lunch, or you can return to town to enjoy lunch, there are plenty of choices. Heinemanns Bakery, RSL, Corones Hotel.
1.00 - 2.00pm: THE CHARLEVILLE HERITAGE WALK.
Collect your walking guide of Charleville’s history. This great little map takes you around the town centre to some of our great buildings and tells the story of the development of a great outback town.
2.00 - 4.00pm: Corones Stories & Scones Tour.
Enjoy the rich nostalgia of this magnificent ‘old pub’, circa 1929. Your guided tour will bring history alive, hear takes of squattocracy, famous guests and the frivolity of the 30’s & 40’s. The afternoon is topped off with an outback size Devonshire tea.
4.00 - 5.00pm: ROYAL FLYING DOCTORS.
Visit the base and see the old and the new. A short film depicts everyday life in the service, and then browse the displays of past and present radios, medicine chests and equipment.
5pm - 6pm: Back to your accommodation to rest and relax.
6.00 - 7.00pm: Cosmos Centre Interactive Centre.
Experience seven interactive displays and two short films designed to catch your interest about the ancient star gazers from different cultures. Enjoy the Meteorite Talk and take the opportunity to hold ‘rocks from space’ in your hands. (Light evening meals available).
7.30 - 8.30pm: COSMOS OBSERVATORY.
Arrive at the Cosmos Centre 15 mins before your session (CAR HEADLIGHTS ARE KEPT AWAY from the Observatory when setting up and operating to keep light pollution to a minimum). With your guides discover the beauty of the outback night sky. The Observatory session lasts one hour and during that time you will view distant stars thousands of lights years away and what planets are in the sky at the time.

9.00 AM: Charleville Visitor Information Centre.
Call into the Centre to collect all of your information to assist you during your stay.
9.15am - 10.15am: SCHOOL OF DISTANCE EDUCATION (FORMALLY SCHOOL OF THE AIR).
Visit the classroom that covers thousands of hectares of the Outback. (Note: Not operational Public or Queensland School Holiday Periods).
10.30am - 11.30am: Vortex Guns and Native birdlife and Parklands.
The Parklands hold a number of “surprises”. The unique ‘Steiger Vortex Rainmaking Guns’ were an experiment performed in 1902 in an effort to break the great drought and create rain.
Explore the Native Timber walk and take some time to feed the ducks and geese around the lake.
12 noon: Lunch – Enjoy lunch in town, there are plenty of choices. Heinemanns Bakery, Blue Gum Café, Corones Hotel.
12.30pm: Historic House.
Browse through Historic House which was originally the National Bank and residence. Set on its original site the house contains the memorabilia of Outback life 'way back when'. Don't miss the replica Cobb & Co Coach.

5.30pm: Back to accommodation – freshen up and relax, but not too much, we haven’t finished with you yet. You may like to order dinner and request that it is kept until 8.45pm or have a light snack to keep the ‘wolf’ away.
6pm - 7pm: Bilby Night Talk.
Meet the delightful Bilby, one of Qld's most endangered species and currently bred right here in Charleville. Learn about the habits and habitat of this little Australian.
